Etiquette
In the spirit of the game of golf, we expect all players to exhibit high standards of personal conduct. We ask that players demonstrate respect for the golf course, fellow players and the game itself by repairing ball marks, replacing divots, raking bunkers and maintaining the proper pace of play.
Pace of Play
It is the player’s/group’s responsibility to maintain the pace of play. Sunset Valley has a 4 hour pace of play or a 9 minute interval with the group in front of you. Any group or individual who fails to keep the pace, may be asked to pick up their ball and move into proper position. If a group refuses to keep up, they may be asked to leave the course (in extreme circumstances).
Non-Players/Spectators
Due to liability issues, only golfers are permitted on the golf course. Any non-player must be approved and must sign a waiver in the golf shop. All approved spectators must walk (no golf carts allowed).
Golf Cart Rules
You must be 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart. Players should keep the cart on the cart paths and much as possible. Carts are not to driven within 30 feet of the green complex.
Personal Property
Sunset Valley and the Park District of Highland Park are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged property.
Concessions
Sunset Valley leases out the food concessions at the clubhouse/restaurant. Outside food, beverages and coolers are prohibited.
Suspension of Play: Strike Guard Lightning Detection System
When lightning has been detected within a ten-mile radius, the strobe light will begin flashing and a 15 second siren will sound. The strobe light will remain flashing until an all clear is detected. When the area is clear of lightning, there will be short siren bursts and the strobe light will cease to flash. Play may resume.
During the suspension of play, pro shop staff will NOT be able to check anyone in, and the first tee is closed until the all clear.
Players already on the golf course should cease play and return to the clubhouse, however, may choose to continue play at their own risk.

Our staff has the right to carry out their work in a safe environment.
Violence, foul language and/or abusive behaviors are not acceptable.
